Air Ambulance Crew and Medical Staff

Aeromed air ambulance missions are staffed by a specialized medical team comprising at least one physician and one flight paramedic. Additional medical personnel may be deployed based on the patient's specific needs.  Medical staff must meet the following criteria:  

Physicians must hold specialist status in:

  • Anesthesiology

  • Intensive care

  • General/trauma surgery

  • Emergency medicine  

 

All crew members attend continuos medical education and  possess multilingual skills (Spanish, English and French) are required. 

 

Flight Paramedics must have a minimum of five years' experience in a 911 service and must rotate in intensive care, and emergency room settings.

Multilingual skills

Many crew members speak several languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian ,or Portuguese.

Special cases

Depending on the age or medical condition of the patient, other specialists like pediatricians, neonatologists, gynecologists, obstetricians, cardiac surgeons, are available if required.

Continuous medical education

All staff are continuously trained for the special medical requirements of air ambulance transports. This means postgraduate professional education in:

  • Flight Physiology

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • Advanced Pediatric Life Support

  • Trauma Life Support

  • Critical Care Medicine

  • Critical Care Transport Medicine

  • Crew Resource Management Member Training

  • Infectious diseases and hygiene

  • Travel medicine

We offer regular, full-scale-simulator-based training for all medical crew members.
